Μια καινούρια πρόκληση ξεκινά σήμερα και το θέμα της είναι ο φανταστικός κόσμος των βιβλίων.

Παλιά ή καινούρια, μεγάλα ή μικρά διηγήματα, μυθιστορήματα, ιστορικά, ρομαντικά, φανταστικά….απλά σκεφτείτε για μια στιγμή πόσα επίθετα μπορείτε να χρησιμοποιήσετε για να περιγράψετε ένα βιβλίο. Αυτό από μόνο του, μαρτυρά το μεγαλείο τους!

A new challenge starts today, and this time it’s all about the magical world of books!

Old and new, big or small, novels, fairy tales, historical, romantic, fascinating…just think of how many adjectives you can use to describe them. Well, that alone tells us how glorious books are!

Την αρχή αυτή τη φορά κάνει η υπέροχη mixed media designer, Maria Lillepruun, που δημιούργησε ένα μοναδικό notebook με πολλή δόση vintage και μυστηρίου.

Today our wonderful mixed media designer, Maria Lillepruun, is presenting us a fabulous vintage notebook that she created from scratch. I’m sure you’ll LOVE IT!

Hello friends!

I was totally inspired by this new mood board, and decided to create something vintage and mystical, at the same time, using the color scheme and the elements from the board. The notebook is in size A5 and the cover is made from scratch. This time I played it hard and used tons of mixed media materials :) It took me several days to create the notebook because I just couldn't stop until I was completely satisfied with it. But it was a very pleasing creative process.

As a base for the cover I used pieces of cardstock. First, I applied black gesso, and then a combination of texture paste, sand paste,crackle texture paste. To color it, I used acrylic paints, alcohol inks and crackle varnish. I also did some stamping. The front cover is decorated with patternedpaper, metallic embellishments, chipboard, beads, brads, and textile hydrangea flowers.

The inside covers are decorated with patterned paper by 7 Dots Studio. Their "Garden Party" collection suits our mood board 100 % :) Plus, I did some stamping and used a single 19th Century biology book page that I had kept on my shelf for ages.

April Challenge - Maria Lillepruun's Boho Spring Cards

Αυτός ο Απρίλης σίγουρα μας έχει δείξει τα δόντια του. Θέλουμε τόσο πολύ να νιώσουμε την ανοιξιάτικη ατμόσφαιρα, αλλά ως τώρα περισσότερο με φθινόπωρο μοιάζει.

This month we were so excited to start enjoying the soft and sweet spring atmosphere, but instead it feels like it's autumn!

Εμείς εδώ, πάντως, γι αυτό το μήνα διαλέξαμε όλες τις αγαπημένες εικόνες και τα παστέλ χρώματα που φωνάζουν Ανοιξη και τα ενώσαμε σε ένα κολάζ που σίγουρα θα λατρέψετε και θα σας δώσει έμπνευση. Εννοείται πως έχουμε βάλει μέσα και τα απαραίτητα αυγουλάκια και κουνελάκια του Πάσχα!

Be that as it may, here at Scraps and Pieces we gathered all those favorite elements that speak Spring in our hearts and created a lovely collage to inspire you for this month's challenge.

Hello dear friends! This month our mood board inspired me to make a couple of Spring flowery cards, in boho style. I took the mild Spring colors and added layers of painted paper, patterned paper, chipboard, acetate overlay and flowers. I wish everybody a happy creative Spring!

Σήμερα η αγαπημένη μας designer Maria Lillepruun μας δείχνει πως μπορούμε να κάνουμε κάτι καλλιτεχνικό σε μέγεθος….νομίσματος!
Today our lovely designer Maria Lillepruun, is showing us how to create art in coin size!

Αν έχετε υπόψη τις ATC  - Artists Trading Cards – αυτό είναι η εξέλιξή τους και ονομάζονται ATCoins. Είναι της ίδιας φιλοσοφίας, αλλά έχουν σχήμα στρογγυλό όπως τα νομίσματα. Είναι μικρά κομμάτια τέχνης, ευρέως διαδεδομένα στο εξωτερικό και πολλοί καλλιτέχνες τα ανταλλάσσουν μεταξύ τους όπως και τις κάρτες.
If you're  familiar with Artists Trading Cards - ATCs - then you know that the latest trend is ATCoins. Small pieces of art, made with each designer's unique style, that come in a round shape like actual coins. 

Η Maria έχει ασχοληθεί πολύ με τις Artist Trading Cards κι έχει ήδη στη συλλογή της 130 κάρτες απ’ όλον τον κόσμο! Αυτή τη φορά όμως, για εμάς στο Scraps N Pieces, αποφάσισε να φτιάξει τούτα τα πανέμορφα ATCoins και μας τα παρουσιάζει σε video tutorial!

Εύχομαι το 2019 να σας φέρει ό,τι έχετε ονειρευτεί. Να έχετε πολλή έμπνευση και να είστε ακόμη πιο δημιουργικοί.

Καθυστερήσαμε λίγο την χειμωνιάτικη μας πρόκληση….αλλά τι να κάνω, άργησα να ξεπαγώσω από τα χιόνια που με σκέπασαν στις γιορτές χιχιχι

Πάντως κάλιο αργά παρά αργότερα….και χωρίς άλλη καθυστέρηση ανακοινώνουμε την πρώτη μας πρόκληση για το 2019.
Our first challenge for 2019 is finally on,although a bit late due to my getting stuck in the mountains :)))....but I'm sure you'll love it!

From Trash to Treasure

Ένα θέμα πάντα επίκαιρο κι αγαπημένο, μια και το ξέρω καλά ότι λίγο πολύ είστε όλες κρυφο μαζόχτρες, που συλλέγετε ένα σωρό «σκουπιδάκια» προκειμένου κάποια στιγμή να τα αξιοποιήσετε μεταμορφώνοντάς τα. 
This is a theme I know you all love, cause I know you're little hoarders aren't you?
Ιδού λοιπόν η ευκαιρία σας να ανασύρετε κάποιο από αυτά τα πανέμορφα «σκουπιδάκια», να το στολίσετε και να παίξετε μαζί μας για ένα δώρο έκπληξη από το www.scrapsnpieces.gr ή για να είστε η/ο επόμενη Guest Designer εδώ στο blog μας.

Today we have Maria Lillepruun on our blog. Our talented mixed media designer, brings us some amazing inspiration by altering a rubber ball that she saved from a dog's teeth! Can you believe that?

This is my January project. I had so many thoughts in my head about using trash as a base and I was so on the holidays’ wave that I still came up with a Christmas project :)

I made a Christmas bauble out of trash.

My daughter had this little rubber ball she played a couple of times outside with last summer.

Then our neighbor´s dog stole the ball, chewed it for a month and then it was gone... Last week we accidentally found it in front of our house in the snow! My daughter brought it home and wanted to keep playing with the ball! I did not want to keep a cheap ball that was chewed by a dog and then no one even knew what had happened to it for several months outside... But then we decided that the ball that had gone through so many adventures should not just end up in the garbage. So, I washed it very well and turned it into a Christmas tree bauble. 

In the picture, you can see the ball after being cleaned. 

I covered the ball with two coats of white gesso and some lace that I cut out of an old curtain. Then, I colored it with ink sprays, used a golden wax to accent the texture of the lace and a texture paste that imitates snow. 

The bauble is decorated with mulberry flowers, beaded berries, real anise stars and a lot of glitter and sequins.
